Portable building hire is a quick and cost-effective solution for people across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty who need a temporary or permanent building, either for working or living in. Cabins can be rented or purchased, and we deliver and relocate throughout the region.
Our cabins are built to engineers' specifications at our own yard in Pyes Pa, Tauranga. Each and every cabin is built by qualified tradesmen and finished to a high standard, using New Zealand-made materials. Each rental cabin is fully insulated, fitted with electrical power points, curtain tracks, vinyl floor coverings, and comes with a 20-metre power lead.
If you're wanting to rent or buy a cabin, we have a variety of sizes and styles to suit all budgets. Need something different? We also build custom cabins, including offices, smoko rooms and site lock-ups.

How much does it cost to hire a cabin from Portacabinz?
Hire prices range from $100 to $165 per week including GST, depending on cabin size. A refundable bond of $350 including GST applies to all cabins.
Is delivery included in the price?
Delivery within 50 kilometres of our Pyes Pa yard is free for hires of six months or more. For shorter hire periods, a $300 delivery fee including GST applies within the same 50 kilometre radius. Deliveries beyond 50 kilometres are charged at an increased rate depending on distance.
What size cabin do I need?
It depends on how you plan to use it. Our 4.8m x 2.4m and 4.8m x 3.0m cabins suit a single spare room, sleepout, hobby room or small office. The 5.4m x 2.4m cabin offers more space with two windows and a ranch slider, ideal for a larger office or spare room. Our 6.0m and 7.2m bare cabins suit larger projects, and the 7.2m two-room option works well where separate spaces are needed, such as an office and a smoko room.
Can I buy a cabin instead of hiring one?
Yes, Portacabinz cabins are available for purchase as well as hire. Sales prices vary depending on size and specification, so contact us for a quote.
What's the difference between the cabin sizes?
All Portacabinz cabins are fully insulated and lined as standard, regardless of size. The difference between models comes down to floor area and internal configuration. Smaller cabins suit a single-room use such as an office or sleepout, while our larger sizes offer additional space, and the two-room option provides two separate internal areas within one unit.
What's included with a Portacabinz cabin?
Every cabin comes fitted with internal and outside lighting, double power points, a smoke alarm, vinyl flooring, curtain tracks, and a 20-metre power lead. Cabins are built on a galvanised steel base with aluminium joinery and are engineered to withstand repeated relocation.
Can Portacabinz build a custom cabin for my needs?
Yes. We've built offices, smoko rooms, sleepouts, cabins on wheels with a draw-bar for campground compliance, forklift-transportable site lock-ups, and cabins that join together for larger spaces. Custom builds are available in any colour from the NZ Colorsteel range.

Are Portacabinz cabins suitable as a home office or sleepout?
